@mike check file permission and ownership.
I know it is ages ago but just in case somebody needs it.
Open Nautilus and go to view to show ~additional columns~
Check owner, octal permissions and group.
Navigate to the directory and look at the the new columns.
Mine are "username"(not root), 100644, username
-owner, octal permission, username
To change anything you have to open a terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal)
type sudo su
to become root
now you can change the owner with chown
type chown "username" "filename"
and the permissions with chmod
type chmod 644 "filename"
If it still does not work try IRC chat.

You need to rename "usercontentexample.css" to "usercontent.css"
Then save file, exit firefox and restart firefox.

Hope this helps?

Hi Nicole Hernandez.

Try these options to get back some screen realestate and feel free to experiment with the number values i.e. my values are set at toolbar 12px and tabbrowser 19px.

Smaller toolbar

toolbar {
max-height:30px !important;
}

Smaller tab browser

.tabbrowser-tabs {
max-height: 30px !important;
padding:0;
margin: 0;
}

Hope this helps?

Sincerely,
R.E. Burrows.

I'm really not understanding what you're trying to do. You might post your question on the <a href="http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum.php?locale=en-US&forumId=1" rel="nofollow">Firefox help forum</a>.

Can anybody help? I cannot make the firefox read the userContent.css file to change the presentation for a particular user.

I am actually trying to use a special barcode font for printing address labels.

It works fine in IE but cannot figure out how to make it work in firefox 3.0 on Ubuntu 9.04?

I have found 4 or 5 recommended directory locations for userContent.css and userChrome.css up to now.

What should I try next?

To each their own :) That's why I showed both ways. Doesn't matter how you get to the file you are trying to find, as long as you get to the same end result.

Well I tried it both ways and to tell you the truth I actually like the file manager way better...not to mention that the sidebar is on the right side and out of my way.The left side is ok but in my case it was in the way and took up space on the left side and on the right it's just there when I need it...Thanks.
